CIS 130 Assignment #1 Digital TV and Aspertame

1) To receive Digital TV in Swink, Co each residence would need an antenna either on the TV or on the roof attatched to the TV. A converter would be required for each TV set. Government coupons worth about $40 are available to help defray costs.

Assignment #2 part 2 Phising & Hacking

Phising and hacking effects online commerce especially banks and financial sites. People are changing their behavior by decreasing the number of online transactions they make. They are also double checking their transactions due to raising security issues.

Assignment #2 Anwar Oil

Drilling for oil in the Anwar area of Alaska would decrease U.S. dependency on foreign oil by about 600 million barrels of oil to 9.2 billion barrels oil (U.S. Department of the Interior). These are the highest estimates I found. Other estimates are 1.69 to 14.77 billion barrels of recovable oil (April 1997). Proper tire inflation estimates would save about 600,000 barrels of oil a day according to Jim Geraghty on the Hot Air Blog.This number is considered the most optomistic.A well tuned automobile would save up to 6 million barrels of oil a day. A more reasonable savings amount would be 330,000 barrels of oil a day according to Sublime Blovations. The U.S. imports about 12 million barrels of oil of the 20 million barrels of oil a day it refines.
